What is MUFOG?

A group of neighbours decided to get together each month so they would set aside some dedicated time to participate in their chosen craft.   Some of us had recently started scrapbooking and wanted to make sure that we were actually going to use all of the things we had recently bought. Others wanted to give themself some "Me" time, something that seems to be sacrificed so often these days.   This was the start of MUFOG which originally stood for Murrumbateman UnFinished Objects Group. After a few months of meeting religiously each month, it was suggested that we should set aside a full weekend and have a craftfest (a great idea Kerry!).  The MUFOG craft weekends were born.

That was 2006.

Since then, we have held a number MUFOG weekends and welcome new people each time.  We've grown from our humble beginnings of 11 people who self catered in a small country house, to more spacious facilities and someone else to do the cooking! We've introduced additional services to the weekends to help make the time something more special.  But most of all, we have a great time with great company in a great environment.  With ladies travelling from interstate to join in the fun, MUFOG had to undergo a slight name change - we dropped the Murrumbateman and replaced it with Monthly to better reflect the changing diversity of the group. While members of the original group still meet once a month, the MUFOG craft weekends are now a three times a year event that we hope to make available to many more people.

Giving Back

MUFOG endeavours to support a charity at each weekend in an effort to give back to our community.  Over the years, we have supported such charities and causes as:

  • CanAssist Yass
  • Maya's Rest
  • Camp Quality
  • Tayler Made
  • Boxes for Christmas
  • the Southern Cross Kids Camps
  • Beryl Women Inc, and
  • Angels for the Forgotten
  • Share the Dignity

We would like to dearly thank all of our MUFOGers who have helped support these causes at past craft weekends - what a wonderful group of women you are!  Be sure to watch this space for details on future organisations that we plan to support.
